Focus Academy wants people to discover the positive effects of increased focus.
Since 2014, we've been studying how the brain works and translating scientific insights into practical applications. This has resulted in the book Focus ON/OFF, which has sold over 100,000 copies.
Through our training sessions, inspirational talks, and books, we help you, your team, or your organization achieve more focus—a crucial skill in a world full of distractions.
Focus is a skill
In our trainings and inspiration sessions, you will discover how the brain handles attention and concentration and what routines you can employ to make the most of them. Focus has a positive effect on your productivity, stress and (work) happiness.
Our approach
We translate science into practice. We convert insight and understanding of the brain into practical tools and work step-by-step towards teaching you positive behavioral change. To increase the long-term effect of our training courses, we offer participants an optional personal and free coaching program.

"I think freedom is a powerful feeling. As a trainer, I work easier and more pleasantly through it. It is great if I make someone feel free. More free in looking at other possibilities and new ways.
The brain training that I give for Focus Academy fits in seamlessly with this: understanding how your brain works and adjust your way of working. Then you achieve enormous freedom: faster-thinking speed, acting faster, and being distracted much less quickly. Ingredients that make life a lot better!"

Certified trainer with a specialization: brain training, effective work and (non-verbal) communication & truth-finding.
"Training people in the field of brain management is great fun. I love translating scientific knowledge into solutions. I know how it feels when the pressure within a company increases and that burnout due to overload is a growing problem. My goal is to make lasting changes in behavioral patterns. I coach people to use a more efficient approach to daily work so that they focus on core tasks, and a better result is achieved.
To clear my own head, you can often find me on the beach, with a photo camera in my hand or as an actor in the theater."

"As a Senior Professional Organizer, I train people with a high workload to get more rest and overview. This is achieved by being aware of what is coming at you on a working day and setting priorities. By examining your work habits, one experiences less work pressure and a more productive, more energetic working day.
The Focus Academy provides insight into how the brain works and how to deal with all the daily incentives optimally. It's a great experience for everybody!"

"Helping people and organizations to get more out of their hours is one of my passions. I am convinced that with the right ambition and willingness to cooperate, outstanding results can be achieved. A collaboration with Focus Academy is, therefore, logical to me.
The objectives of Focus Academy to make an impact on personal effectiveness and my personal goals are precisely in line with each other. The result of the training is not only that you become more productive, but it also gives more satisfaction. It provides peace of mind, and it raises the awareness that you have a lot of influence on the stress level that you experience. Or as Cruijff said: you will only see it when you realize it."

Vincent has worked in the financial sector for a long time, almost always in Open Offices. He has survived that jungle and is now a trainer and coach. Trainer since 2017, joined Focus Academy in 2019.
Nina de Leeuw is Professional Organizer, trainer, and coach. She helps professionals who, due to a high workload, do not get to the tasks that are important to them and therefore lose track of their work. By teaching them, among other things, how to set the right priorities, make a breathing plan, keep focus, manage e-mail, and prevent procrastination, they experience more rest and get more done.
"My motivation is to inspire others and help them change their behavior so that they can continue and enjoy. It is important to know how to deal with the amount of work. But also how to deal with all the distractions and incentives that come to us every day. And this is where my goals and those of the Focus Academy fit in nicely. If you know how your brain works, it becomes easier to manage your day, and you get more done!"

Trainer and job coach, specialized in (non-verbal) communication, commercial skills and personal branding. And since joining Focus Academy, also working on personal effectiveness.
"I know the struggle with keeping focus all too well. You may very well have a schedule, but in busy times all an 'important' e-mail or phone call can shift your attention. Knowing how your brain deals with the daily flow of continuous stimuli and how you can influence this, not only makes optimal functioning easier, but also much more effective. That's why the Focus Academy's brain training courses are not just a gift, but a crucial tool to calm down in the daily hectic of both your professional and private life."

Trainer since 2020, joined Focus Academy in 2022.
After studying psychology, I gained experience in management and sales, and discovered how much fun it is to coach new colleagues. This sparked my interest in the training profession. I provide training in sales, personal leadership and focus management.
When you know how the brain works, you can adjust behavior. That is what appeals to me in the focus theory. My ideal way to experience focus and stay healthy is to exercise. Besides work, I like to go kite surfing at sea.
linkedin.com/in/janengelsmanMarco Leijtens
Lecturer in psychology since 2012, joined Focus Academy in 2022.
As a graduated neuropsychologist, I became a psychology lecturer at the University of Amsterdam. Here, I discovered how much I enjoy sharing knowledge and coaching and guiding people through the challenges in their learning process. I enjoy it even more when knowledge about how the brain works can be applied to practical challenges. How do you study best? How do you make sure you sleep well? How do you teach yourself new behaviour? And: how to have focus when I want it?
That is also what makes the Focus Management training so much fun. Participants go home with concrete tips and skills based on scientific knowledge. I myself try to alternate regularly between focus and open attention, and that expresses itself outside my work in playing guitar, meditating and long trail runs in the mountains.
